Klarna FAQs

To find out more about Klarna, take a look at our frequently asked questions below:

  • Eligibility
    • How can I increase my chances of getting accepted?

Klarna is unique and offers pay later services based on several factors such as the order value, previous order history and item availability. If you are 18 or over, you can improve your chances of being offered Pay Later by ensuring you provide your full name and accurate address details for shipping to your registered billing address.

All orders are assessed individually; just because you’ve been accepted for a Klarna payment method before, doesn’t mean it will be offered for every order and vice versa, if your application is denied, it doesn’t mean it will be denied for all future orders.

    • Does Klarna do a credit check against me?

Klarna may run so-called unrecorded enquiries (or soft credit searches) that do not affect credit scoring and are only visible to you and Klarna, not to other lenders. Neither Klarna nor Beaverbrooks run credit searches against you that could impact your credit rating.

  • Payment
    • How does Klarna Pay in 3 work?

Pay Later in 3 will allow you to spread the cost of your purchase over three equal payments. The payment for each instalment will automatically be collected from the debit or credit card you entered at checkout. Your first instalment will be collected when your order is confirmed by Beaverbrooks and instalments two and three are scheduled 30 and 60 days later, respectively.

    • How does Pay Later in 30 days work?

Once your order's confirmed, you'll receive an email with payment instructions within two days from Klarna. You will then have 30 days from when you receive your order to pay for the items you keep.

    • How do you pay with Klarna and what do payment options look like?

You can pay later by downloading the Klarna app or completing the payment online at your convenience, with no extra cost. You can pay easily via credit or debit card at www.klarna.com/uk once you have received your goods. If you opt for Pay in 3, you’ll enter your card details when you checkout and your payments will automatically be taken at 30 and 60 days.

    • Is Klarna payment safe and legitimate?

Payment information is processed securely by Klarna and no card details are transferred to or held by Beaverbrooks. All transactions take place via connections secured with the latest industry standard security protocols.

    • How much can you spend on Klarna? Is there a maximum spend?

While Pay in 30 Days after delivery is available on online orders between £50 and £500 and Pay in 3 available between £50 and £500, your maximum credit limit relies on the amount Klarna will offer you at one time.

This depends on various factors including your previous credit history and an affordability assessment. Klarna will let you know by email how much credit you will be offered once you have signed your Klarna account agreement in the checkout. Your credit limit is also shown on each monthly statement and within the Klarna app, available on Android and IOS.

    • Can I pay off Klarna early before the due date?

If you’ve chosen Klarna’s pay in 30 days option, you can pay for your order at any point after you receive the confirmation email from Klarna with your payment detail. Just follow the instructions on this email to pay for your order, or log into the Klarna app.

For purchases made with Pay in 3, simply log into the Klarna app, go to the order page and select 'Pay off early'.

    • What do I need to provide when I make a purchase?

If you want to make a purchase with Klarna, you’ll need to provide your name, address and email address - for some orders you may need to provide your mobile number or date of birth, too. All information will be sent to your email address, including payment reminders and links to your online statements, so it's very important, that you give Klarna the correct details to receive your payment schedule and any updated order information.

    • What happens if I miss a payment or pay Klarna late?

For Klarna’s Pay 30 Days Later, payment is due 30 days after the item is shipped. To help you pay on time, Klarna will alert you two days before payment is due by email reminders – and, if very late, Klarna may also send you a text or letter, too. If you fail to pay Klarna for your order, your credit score will be affected.

For a Pay in 3 payment, Klarna will automatically attempt to collect payment from the debit or credit card you entered at checkout. If they are unable to collect your payment on the scheduled due date, Klarna will make one further attempt to automatically collect payment again after seven days. Should this last payment attempt fail, Klarna will make another attempt after a further seven days (14 days after the date of the first attempt). Klarna shall notify you when a payment is due two days in advance of attempting to collect your payment.
