In 1957, Giorgio Armani began his career as an assistant photographer at La Rinascente, allowing him to travel the world, visiting places such as India, Japan and the United States. Shortly after acquiring this position, he transferred to the Stile Moda Ufficio (Office of Fashion and Style) where he unleashed his imagination and enthusiasm working with menswear buyers, and quickly became noticed by well-known designers.
In 1964, Giorgio Armani was introduced to the famous designer Nino Cerruti, who quickly took him under his wing, hiring him and allowing him to design a new line of men’s knitwear fashions.
In the early 1970s, Giorgio Armani met Sergio Galeotti, a designer and architectural draftsman. After working together for several years, Galeotti and Armani decided to establish their own company, and registered the trademark Giorgio Armani S.P.A. on July 24th, 1975.
Now, celebrating 30 years of success, Giorgio Armani has built an empire of brands including Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Mani, Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans, A/X Armani Exchange, Armani Junior and Armani Casa, all collectively sold in more than 50 countries around the world.
