In 1884, Leon Breitling set up a small workshop in the Jura Mountains, Switzerland with the purpose to develop and produce mechanical timepieces which could record small measurements of time. Over 120 years later Breitling is now firmly established as one of the largest manufacturers of mechanical chronographs in the world. Breitling is proud to have shared a strong partnership with the exciting and demanding world of aviation, initially as a supplier of timing equipment in the cockpit, and as the official supplier to the RAF in WW2. With the development of the Chronomat in 1942, the first chronograph to be fitted with a circular slide rule, and the Navitimer in 1952 equipped with a navigation computer, Breitling became the ultimate instrument for the professional pilot.
Today, Breitling's obsession with quality, performance and rugged good looks appeal to both style conscious men and women alike. As a luxury watch, Breitling maintain the highest recognition with 100% of the range achieving Chronometer Certification. It is not surprising therefore, that is still the preferred choice for the pilots such as The Red Arrows, Frecce Tricolore and many other national display teams around the world including the famous Breitling Jet Team.
Breitling have succeeded in producing watches that combine aesthetic beauty and functionality, whilst remaining loyal to Leon Breitling's innovative spirit.
