Finance Assistant

Contract - 12 months Fixed Term contract, 25 - 30 hours per week

Salary - £8.72 - £9.23 per hour, dependant on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join Beaverbrooks the Jewellers. This is a varied role, responsible for the accurate and timely recording of financial data for both Office and Retail Store functions. The department supports store colleagues with day to day finance enquiries and strong communication skills are key to the role.

The hours will include a full day (9am – 5pm) on a Monday & a Friday, with the remainder of the hours being more flexible i.e. 3 shorter days (Tuesday – Thursday) or 2 longer days with one mid week day off.


  • Reconciling the Stores weekly financial documentation to reported sales and resolving transaction discrepancies
  • Processing and input of Interest Free Credit agreements
  • Balancing and Processing the stores Petty Cash expenses
  • Posting weekly Journals
  • Matching, Coding & processing high volumes of invoices weekly (200-300)
  • Assisting with Payment runs
  • Being the point of contact for a number of Suppliers, reconciling Supplier statements and resolving queries
  • Processing of Company Credit Card Expenses
  • General department administration and ad-hoc month end support


The successful candidate will have had similar experience in a previous role and be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to communicate effectively and deliver excellent service and support across the business
  • A high level of accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to resolve queries efficiently
  • Excellent system skills including Excel (a working knowledge of Microsoft Navision would be advantageous)
  • Working effectively to deadlines – including strong personal organisation, planning and taking action
  • The ability to understand department objectives and link to own priorities
  • The ability to work successfully as part of a team
